BACKGROUND

 

This item, on behalf of Dallas Fire-Rescue, authorizes the conveyance of approximately 19,947 square feet of improved land to Dallas Independent School District (DISD) located near the intersection of Dennison Street and North Hampton Road. This land will be used for the expansion of the Dr. Elba & Domingo Garcia West Dallas STEM School.  DISD is an entity with the power of eminent domain.  The City may sell or exchange its property to a governmental entity that has the power of eminent domain without complying with the notice and bid requirements pursuant to Chapter 272 of the Local Government Code.  The purchase price of $516,500.00 is based on an independent appraisal.

 

This property will be conveyed with a restriction prohibiting the placement of industrialized housing and a reservation of all oil and gas minerals under the property.
