BACKGROUND

This action will authorize a construction services contract with Viking Construction, Inc., lowest responsible bidder of two, to provide construction services for the 2022 Two-Year Term Agreement Slurry Seal and Polymer Modified Micro-Surfacing Contract.

This project provides for construction services scheduled for Fiscal Years 2022 and 2023. Bid specifications were developed and publicly advertised on August 11 and August 18, 2021 for competitive bids associated with the 2022 Two-Year Term Agreement Slurry Seal and Polymer Modified Micro-Surfacing Contract.

If this project is not awarded for construction at this time, the streets will continue to deteriorate causing additional pavement cracking and potholes to form, creating additional maintenance costs for the City. Field conditions may also change, which will require modifications to the project list, requiring additional funding and time to address.
