BACKGROUND
On November 5, 2024, Dallas residents voted to adopt Dallas City Charter Chapter IXA. Dallas City Charter Chapter lXA, Section 1 provides for the appointment of an inspector general who shall be a competent practicing attorney of recognized ability and a certified inspector general, who shall be appointed by a majority vote of all the members of the city council, and who shall hold office for a period of two years and thereafter until a successor is appointed, unless sooner discharged by the council; and
The inspector general position will become vacant at the close of business on September 26, 2025.
City Council determined that it is necessary to appoint an Interim Inspector General during the time it takes to select and appoint a new Inspector General.

On September 16, 2025, City Council deliberated the appointment, employment, or duties of an interim inspector general.
