BACKGROUND
Plaintiffs Maria Montes Martinez and Aracely Martinez Garza filed a lawsuit against Francisco Javier Martinez, a Department of Sanitation Services employee, and the City of Dallas seeking compensation for alleged bodily injuries and other damages sustained in a motor vehicle accident on June 21, 2023, arising from the employee’s operation of a city-owned vehicle. On November 25, 2024, Plaintiffs dismissed their claims against the employee. The City and Plaintiffs have reached a proposed settlement of their claims, subject to City Council approval. Plaintiffs are represented by Kyle DeBose and Rafi & DeBose, PLLC.

A confidential memorandum regarding this matter will be provided to the City Council on February 20, 2026.
