Request

A Certificate of Appropriateness to replace the existing front door.

Applicant Sharron Conrad

Application Filed 8/15/2026

Staff Recommendation

That the request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to replace the existing front door be approved in accordance with specifications submitted on September 3, 2026, with a finding of fact that the work is appropriate to both the structure and the district and would not have an adverse effect. The proposed work is, therefore, consistent with preservation criteria Sec. 51P-87-111(a)(17)(F)(iii) and City Code Section 51A-4.501(g)(6)(C)(i) for contributing structures; and/or the Secretary of the Interior’s Guidelines for Rehabilitation.

Task Force Recommendation

Approve with the comments of exploring the original size of the door fenestration compared to the location of the side lights. Task Force believes that the door is appropriate, but the applicant should consider looking at a door with wood bottom to align with the wood on side lights. Task Force also notes that the door might have originally been 7 feet and to look for evidence of the original frame.
