BACKGROUND

The Public Art Program of the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture requested the submission of qualifications from artists or artist teams to design, fabricate and install a work of public art at the Forest Green Branch Library (the Project). Public Art Staff hosted community meetings and office hours to request information from the community about the final scope of Project including content and style. The scope was part of the published Request for Qualifications.

The Forest Green Branch location offers drought-tolerant contemporary landscaping, zeroscaping as well as mature trees to shade the general artwork area and already has existing access to power. The artwork will be installed facing the corner of Greenville Avenue and the library access road. The artwork will create an outdoor landmark to support the library programming and spark the curiosity of bypassers and patrons alike.
