BACKGROUND

On June 27, 2018, the City Council approved Ordinance No. 30934, effective July 1, 2019.  During the 88th Texas legislative session, the Texas legislature enacted House Bill No. 1526, which creates Subchapter H of Chapter 212 and outlines how cities of more than 800,000 can require Parkland Dedication for multifamily and hotel and motel uses.

In order to comply with the state mandated deadline of January 1, 2014, the City of Dallas must designate all territory within the boundaries of the City as a suburban area, urban area, or central business district area for the purposes of calculating Parkland Dedication fees.
