BACKGROUND

Ray Jordan II, along with his two children, Alexandria Jordan and Joshua Jordan, filed a civil rights lawsuit in federal district court against the City of Dallas, Dallas Police Chief Edgardo "Eddie" Garcia, former Dallas Police Chief Ulysha Renee Hall, and several other state and local government officials and entities seeking compensation for alleged constitutional violations and other damages sustained while participating in protests in and around downtown Dallas on May 30, 2020, and June 1, 2020.

The City of Dallas engaged Brown & Hofmeister, L.L.P. (the Firm), to provide legal counsel, advice and representation to the city, Chief Garcia, and former Chief Hall in connection with the lawsuit. On October 13, 2022, Administrative Action No. 22-6395, authorized a professional services contract with the Firm, in an amount not to exceed $50,000.00. On February 8, 2023, the district court dismissed Plaintiffs' claims against Chief Garcia. On July 17, 2023, Administrative Action No. 23-5877, authorized Supplemental Agreement No. 1 to the professional services contract with the Firm for additional legal counsel, advice, and representation of the city and former Chief Hall, increasing the initial contract amount from $50,000.00 to $100,000.00. ...
