A public hearing to receive comments on an ordinance amending Chapter 53, “Dallas Building Code,” of the Dallas City Code by amending Section 430, “Electric Vehicle Charging Facilities”; amending Chapter 57, “Dallas One-to Eight-Family Dwelling Code,” of the Dallas City Code by amending Section R333, “Electric Vehicle Charging Facilities”; providing (1) a maximum number of required electric vehicle capable spaces; (2) a saving clause; (3) a severability clause; and (4) an effective date - Financing: No cost consideration to the City

BACKGROUND
The code requires 20 percent of the total parking spaces provided to be EV-capable spaces. Staff has observed that this requirement can produce a disproportionately high number of EV-capable spaces for larger parking facilities. This can require significant upfront electrical infrastructure beyond demonstrated near-term demand. The amendment also clarifies that the EV requirement is calculated based on the number of parking spaces provided, not on parking spaces required.
