BACKGROUND
This action does not encumber funds; the purpose of a service price agreement is to establish firm pricing for services, for a specific term, which are ordered on an as needed basis according to annual budgetary appropriations. The estimated amount is intended as guidance rather than a cap on spending under the agreement, so that actual need combined with the amount budgeted will determine the amount spent under this agreement.
This service price agreement will provide for comprehensive medical review and personal injury analysis services for the City Attorney's Office and the Office of Risk Management. The service will ensure the City has consistent access to reliable expert medical review, medical billing evaluation, and causation assessment for both pre-litigation claims and lawsuits involving the City or its employees. These services will help both departments evaluate claims, gauge financial exposure, and make informed decisions regarding defense and settlement strategies. Accurate, timely evaluations enable the departments to manage risk effectively and protect the City's financial and legal interests, as well as those of its taxpayers.
