Staff Recommendation

That the request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to remove two existing second story windows and one door on the rear facade of the main structure and to install one new wood window on the rear façade, to relocate two windows on the rear facade, and to remove an existing second story deck be approved in accordance with drawings and specifications dated August 17, 2026 with the condition that a windows be added to address the proposed void space; as conditioned, the findings of fact that the proposed work is appropriate to the district and would not have an adverse effect on the structure or district. Implementation of the conditions would allow the proposed work to be consistent with preservation criteria Sec.51P87-111(a)(17)(F)(iii); City Code Section 51A-4.501(g)(6)(C)(i) for contributing structures; and/or the Secretary of the Interior’s Guidelines for Rehabilitation.

Task Force Recommendation

No quorum, comments only. That the request to remove the second story deck, window, and door as well as relocate two windows is supported with the condition that small windows be added to the void space where the second-story balcony, window, and door is proposed for removal. *Note: applicant addressed the addition of windows in the drawings submitted August 17, 2026.
