BACKGROUND
On January 13, 2021, the City Council authorized a public hearing to receive comments regarding a proposal to consider a request to change South Lamar Street between Interstate 30 and South Central Expressway to "Botham Jean Boulevard" and an ordinance granting the name change - NC190-003, Resolution No. 21-0180; by Ordinance No. 31744.
On August 31, 2021, the Texas Transportation Commission passed Minute Order No. 116073, authorizing the State to undertake and complete a highway improvement generally described as to installing street signs.
The City of Dallas has requested that the State allow the City to fund the installation of thirteen street signs at various exit areas along Interstate Highway 45; State Highway 310; US 175 to change signage from Lamar Street to Botham Jean Boulevard. The City will also be responsible for all construction cost overruns for the project.
