BACKGROUND

 

This item authorizes the second step of acquisition for condemnation by eminent domain to acquire from Samuel Lozano and Lucia Estrada of approximately 3,316 square feet of land located near the intersection of Poe and McPherson Streets for the West Dallas Gateway Project.  The property is encumbered with title issues, and the City will not be able to close the transaction amicably.  The consideration is based on an independent appraisal. There is no relocation costs associated.

 

The first resolution approved on April 23, 2025, by Resolution No. 25-0631, authorized the purchase in the amount of $149,850.00.  The property will be used for future road construction and infrastructure improvements. 

 

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

 

On April 23, 2025, the City Council authorized acquisition from Samuel Lozano and Lucia Estrada of approximately 3,316 square feet of land located near the intersection Poe and McPherson Streets for the West Dallas Gateway Project Resolution No. 25-0631.
