Title
A resolution (1) repealing Resolution No. 241318, adopted on September 11, 2024; (2) adopting a funding agreement for the Dallas Police and Fire Pension System; and (3) authorizing settlement of the lawsuit styled, Dallas Police and Fire Pension System v. BACKGROUND
Plaintiff Dallas Police and Fire Pension System filed a lawsuit against the City of Dallas, seeking declarations that state law authorized the Dallas Police and Fire System Board to adopt a funding plan without the City of Dallas’ input or approval. The City filed counterclaims seeking declarations that state law required the Dallas Police and Fire Pension System to obtain the City’s input on and approval of a joint funding soundness restoration plan. The Dallas Police and Fire Pension System and the City reached a proposed settlement of all claims, subject to approval of City Council and the Dallas Police and Fire Pension System Board.

The City Council adopted Resolution No. 241318, on September 11, 2024.
FISCAL INFORMATION
This action has no cost consideration to the City. To be fully funded in 30-years, the recommended funding agreement is projected to require contributions from the city totaling approximately $11 billion over the 30-year period.
