BACKGROUND
The City of Dallas experienced historic rainfall, primarily during the overnight hours of August 21 and August 22, 2022, and broke the 1932 record to become the second highest daily rain total. Some areas in the City experienced over 15 inches of rain. Damage to City buildings included major water infiltration damage at the DMA, and specifically in the Center for Creative Connections and the Reeves Galleries.
This action will increase the reimbursement of an emergency procurement with the DMA between the City and the DMA for expenses related to professional art handling for the de-installation, storage, and re-installation of the artwork in the Reeves Galleries to allow for repairs to these areas. The reimbursements would be funded by the 2022 Severe Weather and Flooding Fund. The reimbursement includes professional artwork handlers, registrars, conservator, conservation, crates, and storage expenses for 12 months to allow the extensive repairs to occur without damage to artworks. The City's insurer has approved these expenses as reimbursable costs.
