Title
A resolution authorizing (1) a joint elections agreement and election services contract between the City of Collin, Dallas County, and various other jurisdictions within Collin County, for the conduct of a special election to be held Tuesday, November 3, 2026 in the amount of $65,000.00; and (2) an increase in appropriations in an amount not to exceed $65,000.00 in the City Secretary’s Office from the General Fund Contingency Reserve - Total not to exceed $65,000.00 - Financing: General Fund Contingency Reserve (see Fiscal Information)

BACKGROUND
Subchapter D of Chapter 31 of the Texas Election Code provides that the City may contract with the county elections administrator for certain election services. Chapter 271 of the Texas Election Code provides that the City may enter into an agreement with other political jurisdictions that may be conducting elections on the same day in election precincts that can be served by common polling places.
The City of Dallas and other political jurisdictions in Collin County will conduct elections on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. This action authorizes the City to hold the Tuesday, November 3, 2026 Special Election jointly with jurisdictions that share common polling places and contract with the Collin County Elections Department for election services. The City has been a party to similar joint election agreements for many years.
