The United States DOI administers the Save America's Treasures Grant Program through the Historic Preservation Fund to provide preservation and/or conservation assistance to nationally significant historic properties and collections. Dallas Park & Recreation Planning and Design Division will utilize funds received from the National Parks Service Save America's Treasures and will provide the required one-to-one matching funds through the 2017 Bond Program.

The Dallas Park & Recreation Department plans to uncover and restore the four, Julian Garnsey murals within the Tower Building's entryway and rotunda. Initially called the Federal Building during the 1936 Centennial, it is not known when the murals were painted over, but small samples have yielded confirmation that the famed artwork remains intact.
