BACKGROUND
On December 10, 2008, the City Council authorized the Amended and Restated Lease of Terminal Building Premises (the "Lease") with Southwest Airlines Co. ("Southwest") for a primary term of twenty years by Resolution No. 08-3403. On January 28, 2015, the City Council authorized the First Amendment to the Lease, by Resolution No. 15-0154, in order to facilitate the construction and financing of a new permanent public parking garage at the Airport as part of the Love Field Modernization Program.
Southwest currently leases approximately 129,634 square feet of space within the main Airport terminal building pursuant to the Lease, and due to the increase in aviation activity at the Airport, the City requires additional space to support airport operations. To accommodate this need, the City and Southwest have agreed to exchange and reduce certain support spaces currently leased by Southwest, resulting in a net reduction of approximately 1,366 square feet of leased space.
