BACKGROUND

Approval of this action will authorize the City to submit an application for projects designed to support and enhance Public Safety initiatives within the city of Dallas.

The Model Cities Initiative Grant application provides funding to support a coordinated public safety strategy focused on reducing violent crime, improving response capabilities, strengthening enforcement and deterrence, stabilizing high-risk locations, supporting prosecution, and improving services for victims and witnesses. Activities supported through this application may include public safety technology, real-time response tools, hot spot policing, Place Network Investigations, focused deterrence, behavioral health crisis response support, nuisance and blight abatement, high-risk encampment stabilization, prosecution support, victim services, and grant compliance activities.
