BACKGROUND

 

This item authorizes the second step of acquisition for condemnation by eminent domain to acquire approximately 26,992 square feet of land located near the intersection of Red Bird Lane and Boulder Drive from Howard Coleman for the Dallas Executive Airport Project. An offer was presented to the property owner on November 20, 2023 reflecting the appraised value of $50,000.00 and the City's offer was declined. Negotiations between the City and the property owner have been ongoing through June 6, 2024 and no amicable agreement has been reached.

 

The first resolution approved on March 27, 2024, by Resolution No. 24-0426, authorized the purchase in the amount of $53,000.00. This property will be used for the Dallas Executive Airport

 

No relocation benefits are associated with this acquisition.

 

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

 

On March 27, 2024, City Council authorized acquisition from Howard Coleman, of approximately 26,992 square feet of land located near the intersection of Red Bird Lane and Boulder Drive for the Dallas Executive Airport Project by Resolution No. 24-0426.
