Title

(1) A public hearing to receive comments; and (2) consideration of authorizing a public hearing to amend Article XIII, "Form Districts," of Chapter 51A, "Dallas Development Code," to list tattoo and body piercing as an example of permitted personal service uses instead of as an example of prohibited personal service uses in form-based zoning districts (This is a hearing to consider the request to authorize the hearing and not the amendment of the development code at this time) - Financing: No cost consideration to the City

Body

BACKGROUND

Article IV (Zoning Regulations) in Chapter 51A of the Dallas Development Code does not include a specific tattoo or body piercing use. Typically, these establishments are classified as a personal service use, the same as barber or beauty shops and nail salons. However, Article XIII (Form Districts) of Chapter 51A lists tattoo or body piercing as an example of a prohibited personal service use. This amendment seeks to list tattoo or body piercing as an example of a permitted personal service use, consistent with Article IV and with the intent of form districts to emphasize building and site design over use.
