Staff Recommendation

That the request for a Certificate of Appropriateness to construct a new two-story covered porch on the rear of the home, to remove the existing brick chimney, and modify several window and door enclosures be approved in accordance with drawings and specifications dated August 2, 2026 with the condition that the exterior chimney stack is to remain; as conditioned, the finding of fact that the work is appropriate to the district and would not have an adverse effect on the structure or district. The proposed work is, therefore, consistent with preservation criteria Sec.51P-87-111(a)(11) and Sec.51P-87-111(a)(17); City Code Section 51A-4.501(g)(6)(C)(i) for contributing structures; and/or the Secretary of the Interior’s Guidelines for Rehabilitation.

Task Force Recommendation

No Quorum - comments only: Task Force was supportive of the design and approved the additional windows added on the south façade of the home.
