Body

BACKGROUND

Ramp lighting illuminates terminal ramp areas, which are used for loading and unloading aircraft, as well as airfield “remain-overnight” (RON) areas in which aircraft are parked and held until flight and gate logistics require movement of aircraft into service.

Dallas Love Field (DAL) Airside Operations and airline operations staff have identified several areas that require improved lighting levels, specifically DAL Terminal Gates 1 and 3. RON A, B, and C also need lighting improvements to create consistent levels of light for night-time maintenance operations.

At the Dallas Airport System Vertiport, perimeter and landing lights need to be assessed against current Federal Aviation Administration standards and layout revisions proposed as necessary. New fixtures will be light-emitting diode for better performance. A new windsock will be installed. The study will also assess existing electrical distribution systems to identify deficiencies, propose mitigation measures and design appropriate improvements as directed.

When existing conditions are documented and potential improvements are prioritized, a work plan will be developed with scope of work, project schedule, and project budget.
