BACKGROUND

This action does not encumber funds; the purpose of a master is to establish firm pricing for goods, for a specific term, which are ordered on an as needed basis according to annual budgetary appropriations. The estimated amount is intended as guidance rather than a cap on spending under the agreement, so that actual need combined with the amount budgeted will determine the amount spent under this agreement.

This master agreement will allow for the purchase of personal protective equipment for all City departments in response to COVID-19. Personal protective equipment is a main source of protection for emergency responders and public facing City staff. Measures for protecting City staff from exposure to, and infection with, COVID-19 depend on the type of work being performed and exposure risk, including potential for interaction with infectious people and contamination of the work environment. The City is adapting infection control strategies through administrative controls, safe work practices, and the purchase of personal protective equipment to decrease the risk of City staff exposures.
