Authorize a construction contract for the replacement of West Lawther Drive Bridge over Rush Creek - A & B Construction, LLC, lowest responsible bidder of five - Not to exceed $482,266.20 - Financing: General Fund

BACKGROUND
Recent inspection of the West Lawther Drive Bridge over Rush Creek showed excessive settlement at the west bridge abutment which undermined the structural integrity of the bridge. The bridge was closed to through traffic to ensure public safety. Design of the replacement bridge was completed by Michael Baker International, Inc. on January 17, 2020, and five construction bids were received on February 7, 2020.
The bridge replacement project will include demolition of the existing bridge and construction of a new bridge. Work includes concrete and asphalt pavement, wingwalls, bridge substructure and superstructure, sodding, and guardrail.
This action will authorize a construction contract with A & B Construction, LLC for the replacement of the West Lawther Drive Bridge over Rush Creek.
A & B Construction, LLC has had no contractual activities with the City of Dallas within the past three years.

Begin Construction June 2020
Complete Construction February 2021
