Body
BACKGROUND

On January 10, 2020, six bids were received for the construction of the Shadybank Park Loop Trail. This item will authorize the award of this construction contract to NorthStar Construction, LLC, lowest responsible bidder of six for the Base Bid and Alternate No. 1 in the amount of $316,279.00.

This project provides a safe route to school, with the bridge replacing a low water crossing. Bids are held for up to 180 days after opening, so the bids will expire if the contract is not awarded before the July recess. Delaying the award will cause the project to have to be rebid in the future, and there is a possibility the price could be higher.

The scope of work for the Shadybank Park Loop Trail includes a prefabricated steel truss pedestrian bridge over Kiowa Branch, trail connections on each side of the bridge to the adjacent streets, retaining walls with Millsap stone veneer, pedestrian rails, gabion slope protection beneath the bridge abutments, and drainage improvements. Funding for this project was included in the 2017 Bond Program.
