Authorize an agreement for the Adjustment of Municipal Utilities with the State of Texas, acting through the Texas Department of Transportation, for construction of water and wastewater main relocations adjustments along Interstate Highway (IH) 635 (Lyndon B. BACKGROUND
This agreement is for the design and construction of water and wastewater main relocations and adjustments in conjunction with the reconstruction/expansion of IH 635 (Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) Freeway) from U.S. Highway 75 to IH 30 by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). Approximately 1100 linear foot (LF) of 36-inch water main, 20 LF of 20-inch water main, 70 LF of 8-inch water main, water appurtenance adjustments, 926 LF of 15-inch wastewater main, and 120 LF of 24-inch wastewater main, 486 LF of 27-inch wastewater main, and wastewater appurtenance adjustments will be constructed. Pursuant to the Design-Build Agreement between TxDOT and the Design-Build Contractor, the Design-Build Contractor has undertaken the obligation for design and construction of the IH 635 expansion project, which includes necessary water and wastewater main relocations and adjustments.
Under this agreement, the cost of utility relocations and/or adjustments required by the improvements of IH 635 will be funded by TxDOT. However, the cost of utility relocations and/or adjustments deemed a betterment, and/or a water and wastewater system improvement will be funded by Dallas Water Utilities. In addition, TxDOT will reimburse Dallas Water Utilities for construction management services expended for water and wastewater main relocations and adjustments. Dallas Water Utilities will provide construction inspection services and final approval of the water and wastewater main relocations. Utility relocations and adjustments required for future phases along IH 635 will be funded in accordance with state and federal regulations and authorized by a separate council action.
TxDOT will begin construction of the project in June 2020.
