BACKGROUND
In April 1993, the City of Dallas executed a Multiple Use Agreement (MUA) with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to use six distinct areas under IH 345 for public parking lots and public parks. These areas under IH 345 are between Grand Avenue and the Woodall Rogers Interchange.
This supplement proposes to modify the MUA to add two new areas within the TxDOT right-of-way for public parking lots and public parks. The first area is adjacent to IH 45 and Carpenter Park and will affectively enlarge the usable area of Carpenter Park. The second area is adjacent to IH 45 between Martin Luther King Boulevard and Pennsylvania Avenue and will be a part of a larger community effort to activate and improve the surrounding area.
This supplement also proposes to remove from the MUA the area under IH 345 that is bounded by Henry, Taylor, and Canton Streets. This area is not currently being used by the City for a public parking lot or public park. Removing this area from the agreement allows TxDOT to recapture the area and control its use. TxDOT may work with another public or private party to develop the area for some compatible use.
