body
BACKGROUND

Viking Construction, Inc. is located in Georgetown, Texas. On April 10, 2019, City Council authorized a construction contract with Viking Construction, Inc. for the 2019 Slurry Seal and Polymer Modified Micro-Surfacing Contract by Resolution No. 19-0500.

This action will authorize Change Order No. 2 to extend the construction services contract, for an additional one-year period, with Viking Construction, Inc. due to the contractor's outstanding performance and the agreement to complete additional work at the original contract bid rates associated with the 2019 Slurry Seal and Polymer Modified Micro-Surfacing Contract.

The proposed project will provide necessary maintenance, repairs, and improvements of city streets as part of the Five-Year Infrastructure Management Program (IMP) to be performed by city contractors. Public Works staff is currently performing field inspections to determine the appropriate treatment type for the streets to be included in the Fiscal Year 2021 IMP, which will be published in October 2020.

If this action is delayed or deferred, it would delay the full and successful completion of the Fiscal Year 2021 maintenance plan.
