Authorize the purchase and installation of enhancements to the Communication Center's existing operations network system for the Fire-Rescue Department with Digital Resources, Inc. through the Texas Association of School Boards and The Interlocal Purchasing System cooperative agreement - Not to exceed $99,176.91 - Financing: General Fund
Body
BACKGROUND
The purchase and installation of enhancements to the Communication Center's existing operations network system for the Fire-Rescue Department will include new displays, routing and switching systems, video sources, and audio systems. The Communication Center is tasked with 24-hour monitoring of multiple vital feeds, including reader boards that monitor apparatus activity, LiveMUM (Live Move-Up Module), VESTA, Dallas and Dallas County traffic, weather, and a scrolling informational board. The current operations network system configuration, purchased in 1999, is outdated and no longer allows Dallas Fire-Rescue to perform efficiently. The enhancements to the Communication Center will assist dispatch in monitoring live feed activity and decreasing emergency response times.
The Department of Information and Technology Services (ITS) approves the purchase of replacement hardware for Dallas Fire-Rescue’s video wall located in the Communication Center. The video equipment will be installed solely by Digital Resources, Inc. ITS will assist Digital Resources, Inc. to ensure the current video wall feeds are connected and working with the new video wall. Dallas Fire-Rescue has acquired maintenance and support of all hardware being installed and there are no software licenses required.
The Texas Association of School Boards and The Interlocal Purchasing System cooperative agreements are authorized by Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code and Subchapter F, Chapter 271, Texas Local Government Code. Section 271.102 of the Texas Local Government Code which authorizes a local government to participate in a Cooperative Purchasing Program with another local government or a local cooperative organization.
