Title
Authorize a construction contract for the replacement of water and wastewater mains at 16 locations (list attached to the Agenda Information Sheet) - Muniz Construction, Inc., lowest responsible bidder of eight - Not to exceed $6,481,076.00 - Financing: Water (Drinking Water) - TWDB 2019 Fund ($4,208,056.36) and Wastewater (Clean Water) - TWDB 2019 Fund ($2,273,019.64)

Body
BACKGROUND

This project consists of the replacement of approximately 28,790 feet of water and wastewater mains. This includes the installation of approximately 620 feet of 4-inch, 720 feet of 6-inch, 15,620 feet of 8-inch, and 2,640 feet of 12-inch water mains, and the installation of approximately 50 feet of 6-inch, 7,380 feet of 8-inch, 730 feet of 10-inch, and 1,030 feet of 12-inch wastewater mains.

The existing water and wastewater mains included in this contract were built between 1920 and 1975. These mains are contributing to an increase in maintenance costs as well as service interruptions. The installation of the proposed segments will improve the capacity of the water and wastewater systems and reduce maintenance costs.
