BACKGROUND

This purchase will provide for a mobile ventilation training trailer and nine forcible entry training props.

The mobile ventilation training trailer will be used to conduct training with Dallas Fire-Rescue members on performing vertical ventilation during active fire scenarios. The nine forcible entry training props will mimic forcible entry operations on residential and commercial doors used to gain access during emergency situations. All training will be conducted with members who may be assigned to perform vertical ventilation or forcible entry operations in the field. The training equipment will provide safe and realistic scenarios in a simulated environment to ensure members are proficient in performing safe and effective field operations.

As part of the solicitation process and in an effort to increase competition, the Office of Procurement Services used its procurement system to send out email notifications to vendors registered under relevant commodity codes. To further increase competition, the Office of Procurement Services uses historical solicitation information, the Internet, and vendor contact information obtained from user departments to contact additional vendors.
