BACKGROUND

 

This item authorizes an amendment to an existing lease agreement with Liam Ltd to extend the lease agreement for an additional five-years for approximately 5,030 square feet of office space located at 1050 North Westmoreland Road, Suite 316B to be used as a Women, Infants and Children (“WIC”) Clinic.

 

The WIC Program is a United States Department of Agriculture program administered in Texas by the Department of State Health Services. The countywide program has been administered by the City of Dallas since 1974 and is overseen by the Office of Community Care. The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for WIC Program provides nutritious foods through electronic benefits transfer (“EBT”) cards redeemed at local grocery stores, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to health services. The program serves pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women, infants and children under age five.

 

The five-year extension will begin December 1, 2020 through November 30, 2025.

 

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

 

On October 22, 2008, City Council authorized a seven-year Lease Agreement by Resolution No. 08-2847.

 

On November 10, 2015, City Council authorized a First Amendment to Lease Agreement by Resolution No. 15-2089.
