BACKGROUND

 

The Emergency Management Performance Grant No. EMT-2020-EP-00004 is a yearly grant from DHS passed through the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Division of Emergency Management and awarded to local emergency management departments to help develop and maintain the capabilities to respond to all-hazards incidents. Funds are used to help cover salaries for the City’s Office of Emergency Management Staff and other costs associated with running the emergency management program.

 

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

 

On August 10, 2016, City Council authorized the acceptance of a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security passed through the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Division of Emergency Management under the Emergency Management Performance Grant Program to fund emergency preparedness operations and planning related to emergency response activities for the period October 1, 2015 through March 31, 2017; and execution of the grant agreement by Resolution No. 16-1194.

 

On January 10, 2018, City Council authorized the acceptance of a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, passed through the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Division of Emergency Management under the FY 2017 Emergency Management Performance Grant Program to fund emergency preparedness operations and planning for the period October 1, 2016 through March 31, 2018; and execution of the grant agreement by Resolution No. 18-0083.

 

On December 12, 2018, City Council authorized the acceptance of a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency passed through the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Division of Emergency Management under the FY 2018 Emergency Management Performance Grant Program to fund emergency preparedness operations and planning for the period October 1, 2017 through March 31, 2019; and execution of the grant agreement by Resolution No. 18-1796.

 

On November 13, 2019, City Council authorized the acceptance of a grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency passed through the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Division of Emergency Management under the FY 2019 Emergency Management Performance Grant Program to fund emergency preparedness operations and planning for the period October 1, 2018 through March 31, 2020; and execution of the grant agreement by Resolution No. 19-1773.
