BACKGROUND

Throughout Dallas, there are areas that are highly deficient in open space. A strategy utilized nationally to increase resident access to park and open space is to partner with schools to make their campuses available for resident use after school hours and weekends. In addition to Dallas Independent School District (DISD), the City of Dallas has executed an interlocal agreement with Richardson Independent School District and staff is working with Plano Independent School District to develop a third. By partnering with DISD, the City will be able to fill many gaps in service without the need to acquire new park land.

The existing Interlocal Agreement (ILA) covers the following 25 schools:
