Body
BACKGROUND
On April 10, 2019, City Council authorized a professional services contract with AECOM Technical Services, Inc. for the engineering evaluation and design of seven erosion control improvement projects. Erosion control improvements were evaluated for the Cedar Branch Culvert at Clarendon Drive, 2901 West Kiest Boulevard, 3918 Pyka Drive, 2200 Block of Five Mile Parkway, 408 Glen Oaks Boulevard, 412 and 416 Ohio Avenue, and 6431 Riverview Lane.
This action will authorize Supplemental Agreement No. 1 to finalize construction documents and permitting and provide construction phase services for six locations. Improvement designs were not recommended for 412 and 416 Glen Oaks Boulevard since the cost of required improvements exceed the value of the properties. The supplemental agreement will include design of erosion control improvements at 408 Glen Oaks Drive based on feasibility study recommendations in the original scope, design of additional gabion wall at 3918 Pyka Drive, additional design to protect existing headwalls being undermined at Clarendon Drive, additional environmental delineations at each site, and construction phase support for all sites.
This contract addresses erosion by developing construction documents to stabilize eroded stream banks utilizing gabion walls or other approved erosion control structures. The proposed improvements will stabilize the existing stream banks while staying within the existing property boundary and floodway or erosion control easements.
