BACKGROUND

The Dallas Police Department (DPD) applied for funding to purchase 500 additional Body-Worn Cameras (BWC) to expand upon the current BWC Program by issuing BWC to front-line, uniformed officers, majority patrol, who are in uniform and interacting with citizens daily. The acceptance of the grant provides funding to the DPD to allow expansion of 500 BWC, taking the department from 1500 to 2000. DPD will be required to meet a local match of $499,820.00. In addition to this match, the amount of $2,134,801.00 in appropriations is needed to complete the FY21 BWC Program.
