BACKGROUND

On January 24, 2018, the City entered into a multi-year agreement with Dallas County Audubon Society (a non-profit organization) to manage and operate Cedar Ridge Preserve.  The agreement was for a five-year period.  The agreement with Dallas Country Audubon Society requires the execution of a separate funding contract to authorize the stipends payable during the current year.  Funds have been identified and appropriated in the City’s General Fund by authorization of the City Council for the current fiscal year.

This is a recurring annual funding agreement.

The stipend payment will support the following programs and services for the period of January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021:

Operate and maintain the Cedar Ridge Preserve for 12 months providing access to the public to 633 acres of escarpment and trails in southwest Dallas, environmental education programs on the ecosystem and presentations at community centers and schools.
