BACKGROUND

 

This action will authorize an increase to the construction services contract with Turner Construction Company for the installation of additional exterior light fixtures and infrastructure preparations necessary for mounting and cabling of Wi-Fi devices on the roof of the new Vickery Park Branch Library.

 

Deferral of this item would delay completion of the additional exterior lighting and Wi-Fi coverage for this new library. The new facility is currently on-schedule for opening in November 2020; the additional work is expected to be complete in March 2021.

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

 

On June 26, 2019, City Council authorized a contract award with Turner Construction Company for the construction of the Vickery Meadow Branch Library in the amount of $6,399,295, by Resolution No. 19-0988.

 

 

 

On February 26, 2020, City Council authorized the acceptance of a donation from the Friends of the Dallas Public Library, Inc., on behalf of The Men and Women of Hunt Consolidated, Inc. for the purchase and planting of a large mature tree for the Vickery Branch Library to be located at 8333 Park Lane, in the amount of $27,500, by Resolution 20-0319.

 

On May 13, 2020, City Council authorized a contract increase with Turner Construction Company for the construction of the Vickery Meadow Branch Library, in the amount of $138,216.45, by Resolution No. 20-0715.
