BACKGROUND

The Department of Aviation in accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration specifications and guidelines will award a construction contract for the Reconstruction of Runway 13R/31L at Dallas Love Field. The surface of the runway must be reconstructed to meet federal guidelines and provide safety for airport operations. Prior to commencement of the project, the City and Oncor have agreed to relocate and install one single phase transformer and approximately 221 feet of duct bank located within the Runway Object Free Area.

The Runway 13R/31L was originally constructed in 1965 and serves as one of the primary runways for commercial and general aviation takeoffs and landings at Dallas Love Field.  The runway was last rehabilitated in 1990.  The scope includes but is not limited to demolition, removal, reconstruction, realignment, and relocation of utilities such as Oncor Electric Delivery utilities to support the reconstruction project.
