Body

BACKGROUND

The City Hall Power Distribution Unit (PDUs) project includes the installation of two PDUs and two electrical panels that are required to safely support the load transfer during the second partial power interruption, to complete the City Hall Electrical Upgrade Project. Schneider Electric Buildings Americas, Inc. was selected following a qualifications-based selection process in accordance with the City of Dallas procurement guidelines. This action was authorized by City Council on December 9, 2020, by Resolution No. 20-1947. Due to production lead times for the equipment needed to complete this project, the original scope of work was not completed by the CARES Act deadline of December 30, 2020.

Deferral of this item would delay the project’s start and completion date, which will continue to retain the City’s Information Technology Services infrastructure in a vulnerable state. The data center houses the City’s ITS infrastructure and servers which are critical to all City operations.  Without this approval, the remainder of the work will not be funded.
