BACKGROUND

This action does not encumber funds; the purpose of a service price agreement is to establish firm pricing for services, for a specific term, which are ordered on an as needed basis according to annual budgetary appropriations. The estimated amount is intended as guidance rather than a cap on spending under the agreement, so that actual need combined with the amount budgeted will determine the amount spent under this agreement. We anticipate the following City departments will use this agreement:

* Fire-Rescue Department
* Police Department
* Water Utilities Department

This service price agreement will provide for boat and motor repairs and parts for multiple City departments. City staff rely on specialized watercraft to perform a variety of essential public services including emergency water rescues, lake patrol, debris removal, and water quality monitoring. In addition, the Fire-Rescue Department uses motorized boats for special lake events, responding to flood events, and accessing confined bodies of water. The Police Department utilize watercraft to patrol bodies of water within the city limits of Dallas and for safety and rescue operations.
