BACKGROUND
Chapter 39A of the Dallas Code of the City of Dallas provides moving expense and rental assistance payments for individuals displaced by the City of Dallas in conjunction with its real property acquisition activities.
On December 9, 2020, City Council authorized the acquisition of real property known as 1950 Fort Worth Avenue for the COVID-19 Supportive Housing Project by Resolution No. 20-1945.
There have been 40 occupants displaced as a direct result of this property acquisition. Pursuant to the Dallas City Code, they qualify for a total moving expense payment of up to $28,181.00 and the owner occupant qualifies for a rental assistance payment up to $8,400.00.
PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)
On December 9, 2020, City Council authorized the acquisition from Hotel Miramar LLC of approximately 35,133 square feet of commercially improved land located near the intersection of Fort Worth Avenue and North Plymouth Road for the COVID-19 Supportive Housing Project by Resolution No. 20-1945.
