BACKGROUND

On May 8, 2019, Harrison Walker & Harper, LLC., was awarded the design-build services contract of the new Fire Station No. 59 facility to be located at 201 North Jim Miller Road.

This action will authorize an increase to the design-build contract with Harrison Walker & Harper, LLC. For the installation of the radio alerting system and additional design services for this facility.

Deferral of this item would delay the project's completion date, which will negatively impact response times for the Fire Station No. 59 service area. Fire Station No. 59 provides crucial fire and rescue services to the citizens of Dallas. The new facility is currently expected to open in September 2021.

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

On May 8, 2019, City Council authorized a design-build services contract with Harrison Walker & Harper, LLC. for design and pre-construction services, an early construction package, and architectural and engineering services for the design and construction of the new Fire Station No. 59 facility by Resolution No. 19-0684.
