BACKGROUND
Chapter IV, Section 9 of the Dallas City Charter states, "The city council shall canvass and certify the results of any general or special election in accordance with the Texas Election Code, as amended." Section 67.003(a) of the Texas Election Code provides that, "..each local canvassing authority shall convene to conduct the local canvass at the time set by the canvassing authority's presiding officer not earlier than the eighth day or later than the 11th day after election day. This action authorizes the City Council to adopt the canvass report submitted by the Ad Hoc Canvassing Committee on the results of the Saturday, June 5, 2021 run-off election.
