BACKGROUND

 

This action will authorize a construction services contract with West Texas Rebar Placers, Inc. dba Texas Rebar Placers, Inc., for the construction of six alley reconstruction projects as Alley Reconstruction Group 17-7001.

 

The project scope will include replacing the existing deteriorating alley pavement with new reinforced concrete pavement, storm drainage improvements and wastewater main replacement.

 

West Texas Rebar Placers, Inc. dba Texas Rebar Placers, Inc., is a Dallas-based corporation, operating within the corporate city limits of Dallas, Texas.

If this project is not awarded for construction at this time, the alleys will continue to deteriorate causing additional pavement cracking and potholes to form, creating additional maintenance costs for the City and potential damages to vehicles utilizing the alleys. Field conditions may also change, which will require modifications to the engineering design plans, requiring additional funding and time to address.
