BACKGROUND

This item authorizes the second step of acquisition for condemnation by eminent domain to acquire from Wilburn Alexander, Jr., of approximately 4,280 square feet of land, located near the intersection of Dolphin Road and Detonte Street for the Dolphin Road from Spring Avenue to North Haskell Avenue Project. The property is encumbered with heirship issues and delinquent taxes, and the City will not be able to close the transaction amicably.

The first resolution approved on January 27, 2021, by Resolution No. 21-0228, authorized the purchase in the amount of $22,000.00.

This property will be used for street improvements for the Dolphin Road from Spring Avenue to North Haskell Avenue Project. The consideration is based on an independent appraisal. There are no relocation benefits associated.

PRIOR ACTION/REVIEW (COUNCIL, BOARDS, COMMISSIONS)

On January 27, 2021, City Council authorized the acquisition from Wilburn Alexander, Jr., for 4,280 square feet of land located in Dallas County for the Dolphin Road from Spring Avenue to North Haskell Avenue Project by Resolution No. 21-0228.
