BACKGROUND
Maurice Rayshun Smith (Mr. Smith) was a City of Dallas (City) employee with the Department of Aviation (Aviation) from July 16, 2008 to his passing on August 2, 2018. He worked as an Electrician in the Facilities Electrical Division. He worked as an electrician in the department’s Facilities Electrical Division. He graduated summa cum laude from Tyler Junior College and received his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Tyler. In addition to being a valued team member of the department, he also served as a pillar of his community and was a deacon in training at The World Church DFW, which he also helped to launch in 2014. The department wishes to acknowledge his contributions to the City and the Dallas Airport System by naming the Dallas Airport System Administration Building at 7555 Lemmon Avenue in his honor as the Maurice Rayshun Smith Building.
