BACKGROUND

The Regional Transportation Council (RTC) awarded $1,962,980.00 for the construction of a shared use path along Elam Road between Pemberton Hill Road and North Jim Miller Road approximately one mile long as a safe route to school project with their Transportation Alternatives Program. This Program is intended to promote on- and off-road pedestrian and bicycle facilities, shared-use paths, and related pedestrian and bicycle safety countermeasures. This grant program requires local funding for engineering design and environmental review.

Secondly, the RTC awarded $325,661.00 for the construction or reconstruction of sidewalks, crosswalks, curb ramps, signage, pedestrian signalization, traffic calming treatments, and crossing safety improvements near the Ignacio Zaragoza Elementary School. This grant program requires local funding for engineering design and environmental review.
