Body

BACKGROUND

On December 11, 2019, City Council authorized a construction contract with DDM Construction Corporation, for the construction of street paving, storm drainage improvements, and water and wastewater improvements for Street Reconstruction Group 17-6001, by Resolution No. 19-1624.

On April 14, 2021, City Council authorized Change Order No. 1 to the construction services contract with DDM Construction Corporation to allow for additional removal of concrete subgrade for Street Reconstruction Group 17-6001, by Resolution No. 21-0602.

The project scope includes constructing new 8-inch-thick hot mix asphalt pavement, curbs, gutter, sidewalk, driveway approaches, storm sewer, water and wastewater improvements, and other miscellaneous items necessary to complete the project in accordance with the intent of the plans and specifications.

Due to an underground conflict between the proposed storm waterline and the existing sewer line at the alley on Gaspar Street, Dallas Water Utilities (DWU) recommended lowering their sewer line, as the storm water pipe was already shallow.

Change Order No. 2 will authorize payment for all additional work, including casing the sewer line and a new manhole. Delays in processing the change order will lead to delay in paying the contractor.

DDM Construction Corporation is a registered vendor with the City of Dallas and its office is located in Addison, Texas.
